I hope they don't. Before Jim Harbaugh, Michigan was pretty "not good" for a while. Alabama would like to forget most of the 00s decade. Texas had a rough 2010s.

Good teams can have rough stretches in real life, and I hope they put *THAT* in the game.

Absolutely! If the same teams are always in the top 10, then no other program can grow. When I started watching college football in the mid 90s, Nebraska had just come off one of the most dominant seasons ever (1995) and went on to share a piece of the 1997 title, too. It seemed then they'd never fall out of the top rankings, and look at them now.

Oklahoma was not very good around that time, either. From 1992 to 1999 they had two winning seasons. But they hired Bob Stoops and he brought them back to prominence. They won at least 11 games every year from 2000 to 2004.

The Miami Hurricanes and USC Trojans have had similar ups and downs. Even smaller programs like Marshall, who had two unbeaten seasons in the 90s (1996 with Randy Moss and 1999 with Chad Pennington) went on to have stretches of mediocrity in the 2000s even though they kept relatively the same level of competition.

It's weird for sure. EA publishes a game in 2024 and their main focus won't be the one game mode which guarantees them revenue after the initial purchase? They only want to give us an amazing game with great gameplay while the focus is on other game modes than UT? That would be amazing, but I'll have to wait another 6 weeks to see, if this is really the case. After all it's EA and I can't get rid of all skepticism when it comes to EA.

All you have to do is look at the other successful EA sports games and see what they do. And then take into account them having to pay college athletes this time. If anything I think they would double down on the UT nonsense in this franchise. Hopefully they aren't insufferable with it the first year, but it's inevitable.

Like I said. Where is the Ultimate Team marketing campaign? Why didn't the inundate the people who went to the event with UT presentations? If their goal was to market UT > all, then they'd have lead with that. They'd have made it an emphasis at their event. They'd have given those people talking points for when they went back to their respective outlets or channels, in order to spread the good word of Ultimate Team to the masses. So, Mr. Marketing Major, explain how that lack of coverage correlates to it being the sole focus of the production. I'm all ears.

Does a casino need to heavily market the fact that they have slot machines? No, but they will for sure hype up their restaurants, concerts, and promo events all day long to get you in the door. Does Madden and EAFC have to shout from the rooftops every year the UT is back? No, because we know the deal. Pre-order now and get your "College Football points" and "Alma Mater pack."

Enjoy the single player modes. That's all I'm going to be playing too. But what about EA's business plan makes you think those modes will be a key focus post-release and in the coming years?

Post-release I don't expect them to do anything other than tweak things like Wear and Tear or fix any gamebreaking bugs.

In the future, given who is a creative producer on the game, Scott O'Gallagher, and the freedom he and his team has had in bringing depth to the game, that is what gives me hope the future of the series will continue to see a true priority on making the game deeper for both vs CPU and head-to-head users like we've seen so far already.

Ultimate Team is a focused mode for Madden, they advertise it every year. It's the most played mode in the game. Even after they added ultimate team to NCAA 14, it wasn't the focus. This dev team has openly spoken about being all in on Dynasty mode and making that the focus of the game. It's been reiterated to death by Matt Brown for 2 years, and everyone else now that their embargoes have ended. The presence of ultimate team at the insistence of higher ups doesn't mean the devs are going to suddenly give zero effort in other aspects of the game. Besides the fact that in Madden, the guys who work on franchise are not the same guys who work on UT. Dynasty is the pinnacle of these college games and they know that.

Also, adding to what Canes said, what exactly do you think needs constant tweaking and upkeep in Dynasty? They're already going to be updating rosters, and adding uniforms as they get revealed. Roster updates won't change anything for you, because you'd have to restart your dynasty anyway. So what is it exactly that you think needs to be live serviced about dynasty? There are separate teams for UT and dynasty, assuredly, since that is how they develop their other sports titles. So what are you asking for? I used to think like you, that UT is the reason everything sucks, but it just isn't the reality. Problem is most people are completely unwilling to accept that, and think that anything that is contrary to that is a lie. As evidenced by these boards of late.

Anyone have an idea when the next set of information from EA is coming out? I’ve been checking YouTube everyday but it’s nothing but speculation and hype videos. Has EA given any clue on when we can get more deep dives like when Teambuilder will go live or RTG?
