For those of you who live local or visit Lake Compounce regularly, how reliable is Boulder Dash. I'm considering taking the kids there on Wed. I don't want to make an 8 hr. drove for nothing. I'll call the park like I always do before we leave home but we're planning on Knoebels on Tues., Lake Compounce and Quassy on Wed. and Lakemont on Thurs. I've had this coaster on my most wanted list for a long time. I'm just want to make sure it's not receptacle to breakdowns. Any information will be appreciated.

Amazing coaster that has always been running when I have been there. Not sure if it will be dark enough when you are there but try to get a night ride on it.It will blow you away!! So you are gonna head up to quassy also?I was thinking about getting there also soon to check out the Timberliners.I hope they still plan on using them on Voyage.I have not heard anything on that for awhile.

Boulder Dash is amazing. After all these years I finally got a chance to ride it in June, along with Bizzaro at Six Flags New England. Bizarro was a huge let down, but Boulder Dash exceeded expectations! My previous visit to Lake Compounce was in 1998 and the park was great then, but even better now.

Over all these years I've never read of any reliability issues with Boulder Dash.

Wooden Warrior at Quassy for its size is another really good coaster. I loved the trains too!

I figure Quassy is 14 miles away from Lake Compounce and on the way home. Everyone has been giving Wooden Warrior great reviews. It's worth the stop. Our original plans were to visit King's Island for 2 days. When I first made plans 2 months ago, we had so many people involved, we were going to have to take 2 minivans. As time went on people dropped out including my wife( she has to work, didn't request the proper days off). So this left me with the kids and I. The problem is that my youngest is only 49 inches tall. I didn't want my daughter and oldest son to stand in long lines unsupervised or my youngest to stand in line for a ride he wasn't tall enough to ride. I scratched my head and planned a trip that contained parks that my youngest could enjoy as much as the other 2 and didn't go over our budget, and this is what I came up with. Besides my goal for this year was to visit small parks and add to my wooden coaster count. This will also be a test to see the level of enthusiasm the kids have for this hobby. Hopefully all the stars align and we hit all 4 parks, ride all the coasters, have a great time, and a safe trip. Look for a TR next week.

Nah. Hit Quassy on the way to Lake Compounce. Boulder Dash at night is one the greatest coaster experiences in existence. Ride it in the front, and don't forget to let us know what you think.

I agree with Eric. Bizarro was a bit of a let down, while Boulder Dash exceeded my lofty expectations.

I thought about that. I have been to SF New England and I loved Superman ROS now Bizarro. It seemed that park got more crowded as the day went on. This is the reason I wanted to hit Lake Compounce at opening. I would like to get at least 5 rides on Boulderdash. Any thoughts about what volume of crowds we'll deal with on a Wed. in August.?

Honestly, if you get to Quassy right at 10am, you'll get your fill of Wooden Warrior (if that's possible) in less than an hour. You can easily get to Compounce by 11:30-12pm.

My only visit to Compounce was at Halloween, but I'd imagine that most of the daytime Compounce crowd spends the day in the waterpark. You should be fine.

I don't know when schools are back in session in Connecticut. That might be worth checking out first.

5 rides on BD should be no problem.

Boulder Dash in a word: reliable.
I've never seen it down.

Be prepared for typical weekday one train ops, however.
I can never figure that out (aside from employee/school scheds).

Oh, one other word for BD: fantastic!

I'm so happy to see that I'm not alone in my Bizarro perspective. I had it ranked as my #1 steelie after my first ride on Superman several years ago. But I was very underwhelmed by Bizarro in '09. The love that ride continues to receive in its present incarnation escapes me. It feels like a different ride.

And PLEASE take the advice of others above. A night ride on BD is one of the five best night ride esperiences I've had. I've only been twice to Compounce, but I too, have never been aware of reliability issues with BD.

On Wed. the park closes at 8:00, therefor night rides will not be an option unfortunately. With the kids starting school on the 29th, this is our only opportunity. I let them miss the last week of school to go on a coaster trip in early June, I can't let them miss anymore. Besides the weather looks perfect for those days. I'll be happy if we can ride it multiple times, no matter what time of day. I passed up the opportunity to ride Boulderdash when we visited SF New England and I've been kicking myself ever since. This is a trip that is long overdue.

Anyone have any thoughts on how to get discount coupons for admission into Great Escape? The park told me to check Stuart's, but I don't even know what or where that is. I would love to ride The Comet, but I refuse to pay $47 a person to get into that park. Never been to the park, but from the research I've done it's not worth that kind of money.

I think that would be Stewart's...
