How To Use JetBlue TrueBlue Points And The Best Ways To Redeem Them (2024)

Redeem Your Points for JetBlue Flights

The best use of your TrueBlue points is to redeem them for flights offered by JetBlue.

JetBlue flies throughout the United States. It also flies to select international destinations such as Belize, Costa Rica, Aruba and Bermuda.

The number of points you’ll need for a flight depends on its current cash fare. JetBlue says that when fares are lower, you’ll spend less of your TrueBlue points to book these flights.

For instance, a flight on JetBlue from Chicago to Miami in September 2024 requires 10,800 to 30,000 points. The cash fares of those flights ranged from $172 to $293 for a value of about 0.09 to 1.59 cents per point, depending on the flight you choose.

A basic fare flight that same time of year from the New York area to Los Angeles cost between 13,600 to 14,500 points per traveler. The flights each cost $178 in both cases for a value of 1.2 to 1.3 cents per point.

Finding flights and booking them is easy:

  • Log into your TrueBlue account.
  • Click on the “Flights” option at the top of the page.
  • Enter the departure and destination points of your trip and the date on which you want to travel.
  • Check the box marked “Use TrueBlue points” to see the cost of flights in points.
  • Once you fill in this information, click the “Search Flights” button to view your options.

Book a Flight With Cash + Points

JetBlue also lets you book a flight even if you don’t have enough TrueBlue points to cover the entire cost. This happens through its Cash + Points program, which allows you to book flights with both points and cash.

To do this:

  • Log into your TrueBlue account and search for the flight you want. Be sure to search with the “Use TrueBlue Points” option.
  • Click on the flight and fare you want. If you have earned more than 500 TrueBlue points, TrueBlue will display a slider that you can adjust to choose how much of your flight to pay for with points and how much to pay with cash.

Just remember: You must have at least 500 TrueBlue points to use this redemption option.

Book a JetBlue Vacation Package

Want to slash the costs of your next vacation? Consider bundling a hotel reservation and flight through JetBlue Vacations, a service you can pay for with your TrueBlue points.

JetBlue Vacations offers several bundled deals throughout the year, giving its TrueBlue members the chance to book hotels, flights and rental cars at lower prices than if they were to book each separately.

You might also qualify for some valuable perks when booking a trip through JetBlue Vacations. Some flights will offer free alcoholic drinks and early boarding, for example.

The challenge? You can’t redeem your TrueBlue points to pay for an entire JetBlue Vacations package. Instead, you can use your points to get a vacation package at a discounted price.

How does booking vacation packages work?

  • Log into your TrueBlue account.
  • Click the “Book” icon at the top of the page.
  • From the dropdown menu, click “Packages.”

This will take you to the JetBlue Vacations page.

  • Next, type in what type of package you want. You can search for packages combining flights and hotels and those combining flights and cruises.
  • Type in your departure and arrival city, the dates on which you are traveling and the number of travelers. Be sure to check the box next to “Use TrueBlue Points.”

Say you want to fly from Sacramento, California to Orlando, Florida, arriving on October 11, 2024 and returning on October 14, 2024 and that you and one other adult are traveling. You’ll need two flights and a hotel room.

This will bring up a list of options. For instance, you might decide to stay at the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel. Your flights and hotel stay would cost a total of $2,673.17 or 311,700 points plus $22.40 in taxes and fees. This would net a value of .85 cents per point.

Book a Flight on Hawaiian Airlines

Ready for some sun? Dreaming of long hours lounging on the beach? You can make these dreams a reality by redeeming your TrueBlue points for flights on Hawaiian Airlines.

Hawaiian Airlines is one of JetBlue’s airline partners. And you can use your TrueBlue points to book a flight on the airline to any of its destinations, including those outside the Hawaiian Islands. Yes, Hawaiian Airlines doesn’t only fly to Hawaii. The airline also offers non-stop service from Hawaii to Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, American Samoa, the United States mainland and Tahiti.

Points required will vary depending on where you’re flying to, flying from and demand. For example, a flight from San Francisco to Kona, Hawaii frequently costs 27,500 TrueBlue points for an economy seat through most of 2024, when award space is available. However during some peak travel times in August, the flight requires 64,000 points for an economy seat.

Book a flight on Qatar Airways

You can use your TrueBlue points to book a flight from the U.S. to Doha on Qatar Airways, including in QSuites business class, which is known for its luxe in-flight experience. An award flight in economy one way can range from 34,000 to 39,000 TrueBlue points. Business-class award fares can be extremely hard to find, but are usually 70,000 points one way when available.

The cash prices for these flights may fluctuate depending on the time of year and demand.

In this example, your points are worth between 2.3 and 2.7 cents each in economy and an astonishing 15 cents each for that elusive business-class seat.

Pool Your Points

Want to build TrueBlue points faster? You can do this by contributing the points you earn to a Points Pooling account with up to six other members.

It’s free to create a Points Pooling account. You will need at least one other TrueBlue member, though, to share your account. Accounts can include a maximum of seven TrueBlue members, including yourself.

You are required to name a Pool Leader to manage the account, and that includes the job of passing out points to individual members. Any TrueBlue member who is 21 or older can start a Points Pooling account and serve as its leader. So this is a great option for families.

If you join a Points Pooling account, you will automatically contribute 100% of your points to the pooled account. You won’t be able to retain points in a personal account while sending points to a joint one, and you can only join one Points Pooling account.

This might make sense if you want to build points quickly. Just be sure that you and the other members of your joint account agree on how the points will be used and distributed.

You can create a Points Pooling account by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking on the “Get started” link.
