aumeister Pty Ltd Gerrit Duits the problem currently is that most engineering and building failures are wrapped up in litigation, Contract Works and Professional Indemnity claims etc. and are not widely disclosed.As an example, I was involved in a concrete crib wall failure that occured in 2011, with the investigation we did showing the theory around concrete crib wall design was invalid.3 years ago I asked the lawyer managing the matter if I could publish something on it now. Their answer was no, still subject to confidentiality.We need some form of mandatory reporting of these failures at the time and identified cause within 6 months.This should be in the updated legislation but I doubt it's there. The Building Commission is collecting a lot of this data, but I haven't seen much in the way of detailed engineering recommendations or reports like we get in Cross-AUS.Unless we find a way to break the wall of silence, the problems really won't be fixed.Simon fa*gg, you have a valid point that should be resolved. Clearly, your issue is not alone. But the inspectorate also had to stop work in and around Utrecht and Rotterdam due to an unsafe situation. Tim Cook unveils Apple Intelligence, ChatGPT coming to Siri and iOS 18The announcements came during the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).Updated: Jun 10, 2024 03:50 PM ESTApple CEO Tim Cook on Monday unveiled the company’s new artificial (AI) technology, named Apple Intelligence, on Monday.The announcement, among others, from Cook came during the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).WWDC is Apple’s annual gathering dedicated to the developers who help build the apps and services provided by the company. The week-long conference will continue till Friday.In another big announcement, Cook confirmed that ChatGPT access will be allowed on its devices through the assistant – Siri.Using Siri, users will be able to tap into OpenAI’s ChatGPT when needed. It also was made clear that the access will be based on the user’s preference and needs.Siri will first ask permission from the user to share queries with ChatGPT and upon confirmation it will provide the replies given by the OpenAI chatbot.The access to ChatGPT will be free and it won’t require creating an account. The ChatGPT integration will happen later this year.The announcement from Apple was followed by a tweet from OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Altman confirmed the partnership and also hoped that it would be liked by the people. Apple Intelligence, iOS 18 and other announcementsApple Intelligence, according to Cook, will have many firsts for iPhone and iPad users.For example, it can recognize the notifications which are important for personal context.It will also offer proofreading and other improvements in texts across apps. Image generation and cross-application tasking are some other features which will be provided by Apple Intelligence.According to Apple, its Intelligence will leverage cloud-based models on special servers using Apple Silicon to ensure that user data is private and secure.Thanks to Apple Intelligence, Siri will now be able to take actions in and across apps.
